Four-wheel drive is a special kind of vehicle developed and designed to provide a rotational force or rather torque to all the wheels of a two-axle vehicle. The additional rotational force is either permanent or when required. By this, we mean that the vehicle may require an extra force in a certain terrain and hence additional driving force input. The extra torque provides a higher endurance and hence aggressive take-offs on rough terrains.

Four-wheel drive is powered by a gear transmission that enables the engine to reach a peak output. All-wheel drive on the other hand is supplied with torque on both axles on fulltime or on demand. This type of vehicle is designed to endure all types of extensive terrains. This is specially enabled by the firm grip by all wheels. Both axles are firmly coupled together and in any case of poor off-road conditions they are locked manually.
